Taking place at the Glanusk Estate in Bannau Brycheiniog between 20-23 August, Green Man brings the best in international music to this lush corner of Wales. Over more than two decades the festival has built a reputation for eclectic lineups that span a dizzying array of genres – and 2026 is no exception.
Take your pick
You’ll find the crushingly atmospheric post-rock of Mogwai closing the Far Out stage on Thursday evening, while the twinkling Americana of Wilco headline the Mountain Stage on Friday. Saturday takes an electronic turn, as experimental hero Four Tet brings his expansive back catalogue to the headline slot. Finally, Mercury Prize-winners Wolf Alice round off the festival on Sunday with their rousing brand of widescreen rock.
There’s just as much variety across the rest of the bill. Take your pick from a selection including trip-hop pioneer Tricky, art-rock legends Sparks, the raucous Getdown Services, Aldous Harding’s otherworldly alt-folk and the jittery electro-pop of Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor (one of over 60 late additions to Green Man’s already generous musical banquet).
Local heroes
As you’d expect from a proudly Welsh event, you’ll also find plenty of artists from Wales across the festival’s four days. On Thursday night South Wales psych-poppers CVC head up an all-Welsh line up in Green Man’s Walled Garden, which features Art School Girlfriend, MWSOG, Tai Haf Heb Drigolyn and Neve Cariad – followed by late night DJ sets from Tokomololo and Esther.
Thursday night also sees the triumphant return of bona fide Green Man legend Charlotte Church, who brings her party-starting, genre-smashing Pop Dungeon to Far Out After Dark. You can catch the ice-cool art pop of Cate Le Bon and the psych-tinged sounds of Cyn Cwsg on Saturday’s Mountain Stage bill, while the buzzy, bouncy Bug Club tear up the Far Out.
On Sunday, the Far Out also hosts the propulsive feminist punk of Panic Shack and the heartbroken power-pop of The Tubs, while the anarchic noise of Spit Hood hits Round the Twist and Green Man stalwart The Gentle Good serenades the Walled Garden. Elsewhere across the weekend, you can catch sets from Casual Smart, The Dogs, SOURCE, Mari Mathias, Sage Todz and Semana.
More than music
The Gentle Good also makes an appearance at the Cinedrome cinema tent in a short film about the making of his album Elan, inspired by the history and folklore of the Elan Valley in Mid Wales. Film fans can also enjoy Effi O Bleanau – director Marc Evans’ Blaenau Ffestiniog-set adaptation of Gary Owen’s play Iphigenia of Splott – and Madfabulous, which tells the colourful story of the flamboyant Henry Paget, 5th Marquess of Anglesey.
There’s much more going on over the weekend, including cabaret, comedy, circus acts and roving bands of street performers. If you didn’t manage to snag any tickets before the festival quickly sold out, you can keep an eye out for resales on Tixel, Green Man’s official resale partner.
