Launched on 5 May 2022, Canada Goes Cymru is a year-long celebration which highlights the fantastic cultural offering Canada can bring to our vibrant Welsh arts sector, and coincides perfectly with our Wales in Canada year.
The programme is led by the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom in partnership with Wales Arts International, and will see Canadian culture shine on screens, stages, and other platforms across Wales throughout 2022.
And just like our Wales in Canada programme, both initiatives are celebrating the growing connections and opportunities between our two nations.
The launch event took place at FOCUS Wales, the fantastic international multi-venue showcase festival in Wrexham. This was the perfect setting especially given FOCUS Wales’s long-standing relationship with festivals in Canada such as M for Montreal and BreakOut West. What’s more, in celebration of Wales in Canada, we are delighted to confirm long-term funding to support FOCUS Wales grow Wales’ showcasing presence in Canada over the coming years.
Canada Goes Cymru has received additional support from Welsh Government, Telefilm Canada, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
