Press trip small print information

We welcome around 200 journalists a year on press trips to Wales. We can provide assistance arranging press trips for groups and individuals, often in co-operation with VisitBritain and our partners across the country.

The trips vary depending on the request, and usually tie in with our latest communications and marketing campaign and complement our brand ethos and values.

If you would like to arrange a press trip which includes a financial contribution from Visit Wales or our partners, we ask that you have a confirmed commission from a recognised publication or social media site before you contact us.

We will consider all requests, evaluating whether the publication, target audiences, circulation, reach and engagement are in line with our brand objectives and key priorities.

Itineraries

Unless stated otherwise, overseas press trips start and finish at the originating airport or train station, and participants are expected to make their own way to the departure point and back again on return. Accommodation, meals and activities during the press trip will be detailed in the itinerary.

Take a look at our sample itineraries.

Travel insurance

All participants on a Visit Wales or VisitBritain supported press trip to Wales are responsible for their own personal travel/car insurance and any other insurances as required.

Rental cars

Unfortunately we are unable to arrange hire of rental cars for journalists/influencers. If you would like to hire a rental car for your trip, we may be able to reimburse you for the costs of rental and petrol providing you retain a valid receipt. Only basic economy model cars will be supported.

Other costs

The following costs are excluded, and will need to be paid for directly by the individual: personal items, snacks, gratuities, additional rental car equipment (ie. GPS, car seats, etc.). Film permits may be required at some locations and are the direct responsibility of the visiting journalist (including payment), although we may be able advise who to contact. We may not be able to accommodate spouses, partners or children or pets, but this will depend on the type of coverage expected.
