Winter in Wales

Cadair Idris in the snow, Snowdonia

Find out about Wales in winter. On these pages, we’ll tell you a little about what Wales is like in our winter months – December to February.

Many Welsh traditions such as Mari Lwyd and St Dwynwen’s Day take place during the winter months.

Winter walks, even winter swims, and playing or watching field games on external pitches are all common to a Welsh winter, so warming food, like the Welsh speciality of cawl also feature. We sometimes get snow, particularly on higher ground but it rarely stops us getting about.
