Entertainment in Wales
After a day of working, studying or a long day exploring all Wales has to offer, what better way to relax and let your hair down. Our towns and cities are ready to entertain you every night of the week. Here are some ideas for you:
We have a thriving nightlife in Wales. We have loads of places where we can meet up with friends and have a good chat or a dance. Like our city centre clubs and bars in Cardiff where you can have a drink on outdoor terraces. Or our legendary Mumbles in Swansea which offers a mile long stretch of pubs and bars along the coast.
The Hayes Cardiff
With all our local produce, Wales has been described as a top ‘Gastro-location’. Enjoy lobster caught only 108 metres away in Aberaeron or Welsh black fillet steak in a cosy pub in North Wales. Our restaurant page and Wales in Style guide give you a selection of restaurants to tempt you.
There are a growing number of coffee shops, so busy shoppers can take a rest with a latte and friends can chat and enjoy a cappuccino.
A trip to the theatre
Our Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff is one of the largest theatres in Europe and hosts ballet, opera, theatre and dance all under one roof. You’ll find lots on at other venues including The New Theatre, St David’s Hall, The Sherman Theatre and Chapter Arts Centre.
Performances in Wales aren't confined to our capital. The arts are thriving everywhere. Enjoy a range of shows at the Riverfront Arts Centre, Newport or Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The Swansea Grand was where Catherine Zeta Jones made her acting debut.
Venue Cymru in Llandudno is a theatre, conference and arena venue with many international shows.
Live music and comedy clubs
Like live music? We’ve plenty of venues where you can enjoy a variety of music genres. Our Principality Stadium and Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff as well as venues throughout Wales host many tours, including names such as One Direction and Elton John.
But we like to show off our local talent too. Clwb Ifor Bach has hosted many Welsh acts including the Stereophonics, Catatonia and Duffy and is a great venue for unsigned talent.
If you’re looking for a laugh, we’ve a range of comedy clubs across the country too. We’ve all the latest films in our cinemas too. Find your local venues at What's on Wales.
Take a look at our events page to find out some of the things going on in Wales. We also have a number of events listed on our seasonal events pages.
Places to go
There are plenty of places to relax or enjoy activities, including our many beaches and gardens. Have a picnic in a local park; visit one of our many castles or an exhibition at one of our national museums.
