2013 marked the 40th anniversary of the first Japanese company to invest in Wales when Takiron (UK) Ltd, a PVC sheeting company, opened a base in South Wales in 1973. This was followed shortly by Sony. Today there are fifty Japanese companies in Wales employing just over 5,700 people.

Wales has had the distinction of being the largest centre for Japanese consumer electronics manufacturing companies in Europe and includes companies like Sony, Panasonic and Toyota, many of which have continued to re-invest in Wales.
Cardiff Airport is an important gateway for businesses, trade and tourism in Wales. There are currently good route connections from Tokyo into Cardiff Airport with KLM via Schipol Airport, Amsterdam.

Trade Mission to Tokyo
