Cardiff
Friday 1 March The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall attend the National St David's Day Service at St John the Baptist City Parish Church and visit the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The Prince of Wales is Patron, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
The annual St David’s Day parade takes place. A colourful parade passes by Cardiff Castle and through the city centre. People have travelled all the way from Patagonia to take part in the parade. See pictures of last year’s events on our Flickr page.
Cardiff University libraries will be taking inspiration from St David's last message – to 'do the little things' and asking students what improvements they can make and many of the libraries will be holding activities and exhibitions with a Welsh theme.
The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama have a concert in the evening to celebrate Welsh culture past and present performed by talented young artists.
St David's Day Gala Concert with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the BBC National Chorus of Wales.
Sunday 3 March The St David’s Day Run takes place in Bute Park, Cardiff. The run is a great way to raise money for local charities and always attracts fantastic costumes – with a prize for the best dressed runner!
Caerphilly
Events include outdoor concerts in Blackwood, Bargoed, Risca and Caerphilly. Local schools, residents and visitors alike will celebrate our Welsh history, heritage and language.
Porthcawl
The Porthcawl Interceltic Festival starts on St David’s Day and runs until Sunday 3 March.
Swansea
Her Majesty the Queen will visit Swansea’s Guildhall on 2 March. Her Majesty is colonel-in-chief of the 3rd Battalion The Royal Welsh and will carry out a traditional St David's Day ceremony of presenting leeks to members of the Battalion.
Other St David’s events in Swansea include a St David's Craft Workshop at Swansea Museum and Get Welsh Food and Drink Festival on 2 March.
Aberystwyth
In Aberystwyth there will be a St David's Day Parade starting at the Town Clock in and includes the Aberystwyth Brass Band, pipers and more.
Carmarthenshire
In Carmarthenshire on 2 March there will be a St David’s Gala Concert featuring the 100- strong Morriston Orpheus Choir.
Pembrokeshire
In St David's, Pembrokeshire, celebrations include a pilgrims' walk, a parade and a cawl competition.
For those looking for a day of luxury the Orient Express is travelling the Pembrokeshire coast and heading for St David’s on 2 March.
Llandudno
In Llandudno in north west Wales, celebrate under the umbrella of the Llandudno Daffodil Capital of Wales campaign. Thousands of daffodils that have been planted throughout the town. Events include a parade and fun run.
Wrexham
In Wrexham, there’s a St David’s Day parade on 1 March and a market on 2 March.
Museums
Our museums are holding events to celebrate our National Day. Events include , including a complimentary Welshcake and beautifully welcoming sound of the harp at St Fagans museum.
CADW sites
To celebrate our heritage, there is free entry to CADW sites on St David’s Day – wear a daffodil or a leek. Sites including Caerphilly Castle, Harlech Castle and Bishop’s Palace, St David’s.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales
The National Botanic Garden of Wales is also offering free entry on St David’s Day. Enjoy a variety of entertainment - there’s the chance to have a go at the harp, watch a lovespoon carving or join a ‘scratch’ band for an impromptu performance.
In the rest of the UK
In Bath, 93 year old musician Kelvin Thomas MBE has picked St David's Day for the My Life of Music event.
In London, there will be a St David's Day market on the South Bank from 2 – 4 March and there’s a choice of comedy and music events too.
Celebrations around the world
The world-famous Treorchy Male Choir will appear at this year’s St David’s Day Charity Dinner to be attended by Prince Albert and Princess Charlene in Monaco. By royal command the Choir will perform for a celebrity evening, which also includes celebrity guests Bryn Terfel, Catherine Zeta Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey at the luxury Hotel de Paris on 1 March.
Hollywood will honour the late Richard Burton with a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame.
There will be many events in the USA and Canada, where Welsh people and those with Welsh ancestry will celebrate.
Harpist Siobhan Owen is making her North American debut headlining the St David's Day Festival - National Day of Wales Grand Concert in Los Angeles, USA and there will be Cawl & Cocktails in Chicago on the evening of Saturday 2 March.
In Auckland, New Zealand, the Auckland Welsh Choir will perform at the Annual Tribute to St David on 3 March.
Celebrations in Africa The Welsh Male Voice Choir of South Africa performing on Sunday, 3 March.
The 7th annual Wales Week will be held in Chongqing from 4 March. Chongqing and Wales enjoy an unparalleled relationship which owes its conception to the personal recommendation of Premier Wen Jiabao during his visit to Wales in 2000.
There will be a Welsh festival in Disneyland Paris from 8 – 10 March 2013.
