Cardiff’s St David’s shopping voted world’s best

The St David’s shopping arcade in Cardiff has beaten off competition across the globe to be crowned the international shopping centre of the year.

The £675 million St David’s arcade beat shortlist contenders Portugal’s Dolce Vita Tejo and Singapore’s Ion Orchard to scoop the award eight months after opening.

The Global Retail Leisure International (RLI) awards are judged by an independent panel of business leaders who judged the entries on their merit and positive impact on the market.

The award is given to the shopping centre offering the highest levels of customer care and service, the widest choice of shops and the cleanest facilities.

Cardiff council leader Rodney Berman said "I am delighted at the news that St David’s has won the International Shopping Centre of the Year Award. Since St David’s opened last year its popularity has spread far and wide and it is very satisfying for me to see that Cardiff and the St David’s Partnership have delivered a world-class development".
