New Centre to build Wales’ green future unveiled
A Centre designed to support Wales’ green energy potential has been officially unveiled. Coleg Llandrillo Cymru’s multi-million pound Marine and Built Environment Centre (MBEC) has been opened in Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay, north Wales.
The MBEC offers state-of-the-art facilities for students studying construction and marine technology. Full and part time courses are being offered at the MBEC, and learning and training opportunities include apprenticeships, NVQ’s, university level courses and customised training for industry.
Housed within the MBEC is the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Centre for Wales (RESCW). The Centre generates its own heating and electricity from solar power and uses rainwater harvesting and a biomass boiler. The RESCW will offer facilities for demonstrations, educational visits, conference and seminars, as well as courses on renewable energy.
