First Minister, Carwyn Jones was in Llanelwedd today, celebrating the opening day of Wales' biggest agricultural display, The Royal Welsh Show.
As part of a busy day of events, Mr Jones welcomed a delegation from China alongside Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, who have set their sights on the country as a new area for the export of Welsh lamb.
The First Minister said:
"Exporting Welsh Lamb to places such as Hong Kong and Dubai already makes a valuable contribution to our economy but it would be great to see it exported further afield.
"Following their visit to the Royal Welsh, I hope our guests from the Chinese Embassy will be pleased with what they have seen during their visit and will want to make Welsh Lamb available in mainland China, one of the largest consumer markets in the world."
Mr Jones also had the opportunity to see supermarket Sainsbury's confirm its commitment to the country with the promise of the opening of two more stores here before summer 2011 creating over 400 new jobs.
Every year Sainsbury's sources over £100 million of Welsh products from 1,000 suppliers with around 300 Welsh products available at Sainsbury's stores across Britain.
The First Minister said:
"Local food sourcing is a priority for the Welsh Assembly Government and we have recently launched our Food Strategy for Wales for consultation.
"It's pleasing to hear that Sainsbury's is looking to strengthen its presence here as well as being committed to stocking Welsh produce in their stores."
Staff and students of Deeside College and Coleg Llysfasi celebrating their successful merger, were joined by the First Minister this afternoon, who offered them his congratulations.
The merged college, which will be one of the largest in Wales and the UK, will provide courses for almost 22,000 students each year.
At the event, students and staff will be exhibiting some of the land based skills on offer.
