The Gulf Coast St. David's Welsh Society will host a "Royal Wedding Party" on April 29, 2011 in honor of the marriage of His Royal Highness William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor of Wales and Catherine Elizabeth Middleton. It begins at 6 p.m. at The Preserve at Panther Ridge, Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Florida.
From 6 p.m. on, guests will enjoy a British buffet, champagne toast, and group singing, then watch the replay of that morning's wedding ceremony. Reservations are requested by April 25.
Anyone with Welsh or other British heritage, or those who enjoy singing Welsh music are welcome to attend. The cost is $5 for members and $8 for non-members. The bake-off is limited to 20 cookie entrants. Each entrant will bring 100 cookies or less (actual number will be advised one week prior to bake-off). Entry fee is $25.00 which includes one general admission ticket. General admission tickets are $25.00.
Each general admission ticket will have one vote for the best Welsh Cookie. Of the top five, Bill Brown, the Executive Chef of The Club at Nevillewood will pick the winner. The winner will win $100.00.

Tuesday, March 1st - Sarasota St. David's Day Celebration
The Sarasota Welsh Society will hold its annual banquet and songfest on March 1st at the Heritage Oaks Country Club, Sarasota.
Don Hughes, Sarasota realtor whose Welsh forbears settled in Scranton, Pennsylvania, leads the group singing.. This year the accompanist
will be Mary Vaughn.
The program will feature the “Welsh Wizard”, Bryn Yemm, singer and entertainer from South Wales who has performed worldwide not only in the UK but on cruise ships and in gospel concerts and was featured in the UK Album of the Year, “Let There be Peace on Earth”. He now lives part time in Florida.
This will be his first performance in Sarasota. The master of ceremonies for the evening will be Alan Clarke. New officers will be introduced by outgoing president, Pam Edmunds.
Anyone with Welsh heritage, love of Wales, or those who enjoy singing are welcome to attend. The cost is $33 for members and $36 for guests. A
