December 2009: 'Welsh in America' exhibition in Syracuse - interview on News on Channel 10 (television)
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Passengers leaving Hancock Airport can now get a history lesson before boarding their flights. A new exhibit called "The Welsh in America" is now on display in Hancock's main lobby.
The 12 panel exhibit gives a brief history of the Welsh living in America and their contributions to the country, with a special focus on their impacts on agriculture and the Erie Canal in Central New York.
The exhibit has been shown by various museums and colleges, but this is the first time it's been on display at an airport.
"I think it's a wonderful place to have an exhibition of this kind. Because people check in, they have got time to spare. They can wander around, have a look at the exhibition, pick up a booklet, read it on their flight," said Catrin Brace.
The exhibit runs through January 1st.
