Roald Dahl Day

It’s only a week to go until Roald Dahl Day. Every year on 13 September celebrations take place across the world to mark the famous writer’s birthday.

This year it’s the BFG (Big Friendly Giant to those who haven’t yet read the story)’s 30 birthday too. To celebrate fans are invited to dream big, think big, win big, hear big, see big and dress up big!

Why not Think Big and download the whizzpopping party pack that contains lots of Big Fun Giant resources and activities to celebrate Roald Dahl Day and the BFG at home, in the classroom or library.

Why not Dress up Big on the Dahlicious Dress-Up Day on Friday 28 September, and raise money to help seriously ill and disabled children.

Roald was born on 13 September 1916 in Wales to Norwegian parents, and in 2002 the former Oval Basin in Cardiff Bay was renamed the Roald Dahl Plass in memory of the popular author. His much loved books include James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. The books remain ever popular worldwide, with several being made into films.
