Quarter finals in Cardiff
Last night it was a win for the Team GB men’s football at the Millennium Stadium. Led by Craig Bellamy the team beat Uruguay 1-0, with Daniel Sturridge scoring the goal.
This sees Team GB head for the quarter finals, with a return to the Cardiff stadium on Saturday, to take on South Korea.
This week the stadium has seen lots of sporting action, with Mexico beating Switzerland 1-0 yesterday afternoon. On Tuesday it was a 0-0 result for Japan women’s team against South Africa, with the game played under a roof for the first time in Olympic football.
This Friday Japan women’s team return to the stadium to take on Brazil for a quarter final match.
The streets will be buzzing with excitement for the Olympic football matches and Saturday it’s the Cardiff Carnival too, with free family entertainment, it’s going to be a great day. The atmosphere in and around the stadium is always so great on match days, with crowds of excited fans.
For those not able to get to the matches or other London 2012 events, they needn’t miss out on sporting action, as there’s coverage on big screens, with seating provided, in Cardiff and Swansea throughout the games.
