We're now into the second week of the Smithsonian Foklife Festival and are looking forward to another five days of entertainment. This week we're joined by the BBC's Last Choir Standing winners, Only Men Aloud, who's big concert will be on the Welsh Dragon Stage on Thursday July 2 at 6pm.
Catrin Finch has also joined us and will be performing on the Las Americas Folkways Salon stage on Friday July 3 with Colombian band Cimarron. We got chatting to Cimarron a couple of days ago and they told us that they'd already enjoyed two month long stints in Wales touring with Catrin. The concert, starting at 6pm on Friday, is billed as a 'stunning collaboration and a celebration of the versatility of the harp, with Welsh melodies being infused with a vibrant Latin identity',
As well as music performances, participants are invited to join discussions on the Square Mile stage and listen to poetry and Welsh stories at the Storytelling Circle. Topics for this week's Welsh lessons are greetings, telling the time and where are you from.
If you're visiting the festival take a look at the
Smithsonian website for a full schedule of events. Remember to take your camera to enter our
photo competition and let us know how you found the festival on our
message board. We're also keen to hear about your Welsh connections in the Wales in the World tent so stop by and say hello.
