Going for Gold
Two fantastic gold medal wins for Team GB yesterday. Congratulations to rowers Heather Stanning and Helen Glover and cyclist Bradley Wiggins. We can boast a Welsh connection to both. Robin Williams formerly of Chepstow, and who himself learned to row at Monmouth, school coached the women to their win, while Bradley Wiggins is backed by British Cycling, whose Performance Director is North Walian, Dave Brailsford.
In fact, we can claim a Welsh connection to every medal won at London 2012 – they have all been made by the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, south east Wales. Every medal winner will be able to take a little bit of Wales home with them but we’re also backing Team GB to ensure that some come back home to Wales.
