Laura Ashley (1925 – 1985)

Laura Ashley needs little introduction, a fashion designer from Merthyr Tydfil Wales, her furnishing and clothing range set up with her husband Bernard Ashley, was so successful that the brand still continues today with Laura Ashley shops in many countries around the globe.


Julien Macdonald OBE (1971 - )

A Welsh designer born in Cyfarthfa, Julien has become an iconic fashion designer in the world today. He has worked for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel and progressed to succeed Alexander McQueen as the chief designer at Givenchy. As well as owning his own glamour labels, he has hosted the TV show Britain’s Next Top Model and has been heavily involved in charity work.

Amongst other accolades, Julien was named British designer of the year in 2001, and British glamour designer of the year award in 2003.


David Emanuel (1952- )

David is of course best known for designing the wedding dress of Diana, Princess of Wales, but he has become well known as a TV personality and presenter. David has designed sets and costumes for well known musicals and outfits for many famous faces, such as Ivana Trump; Madonna; Dame Elizabeth Taylor; Dame Shirley Bassey; and Catherine Zeta-Jones.


Ross Lovegrove (1958- )

An architect, designer and artist, Ross Lovegrove creates organic minimalist designs inspired by nature and using cutting edge technology. He has created a huge array of objects for major international companies, from furniture to watches, cameras to cars, trains to computers and this has led to numerous global awards.

His work has been extensively exhibited across the World from the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Axis Centre in Japan and the Design Museum in London.


Angela Gidden MBE, (1960 - )

Born in Cardiff, Angela has become a highly established and renowned UK designer. Her creative and commercial experience spans over 29 years in furniture and three-dimensional design, working as a design consultant and creative director.

She has worked with a number of high profile clients including Liberty, Heal's, The Conran Shop, Habitat, L'Oreal, Orangebox, BBC, Camira Fabrics and the Welsh Government.
